Congratulations to Fathers Who Care and the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders for being considered a serious Community Organizing and Youth Leadership and Development Social Service Agency.

Also, let's collectively congratulate one of our very own, Rev. Walter Amir Jones, Jr., Director of Fathers Who Care and the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders, a National Drug Free Community Program, for being asked to be a speaker and panelist at (CADCA) Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, 26th National Leadership Forum and (SAMHSA's) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration,12th Annual Prevention Day Conference. The events are from February 1st through February 5th at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD and then on to Washington, DC.

Rev. Walter Amir Jones, Jr. has been asked to speak at two National Training Opportunities for citizens from around the country.

Session 1: Faith and Substance Abuse Prevention In Action - This session will show that there is power in the intersection of the faith-based and public health sectors when addressing the fullness of community health.  Through partnership with faith organizations and the use of health promotion and disease prevention sciences, such partnerships can build stronger, healthier, and productive communities.  This session will focus on the role of faith-based sectors in advancing the work of substance abuse prevention.

Session 2: My Brothers Keepers/Neighborhoods of Promise's Year of Action - This session will highlight the Nation's Challenge in Organizing and Building upon the Work of Community Leaders to improve outcomes for Youth in America.

Needless to say, this honor is an opportunity to highlight the on-going commitment and community organizing and empowerment that has been a result of People of Faith, Substance and Action working together to promote a safe and drug free community.

Thank you people of faith and action. Your continued prayers, leadership, commitment to social change and community empowerment are spiritual and national tools in our efforts to enlighten, educate and empower our community.
