Commemorate King's assassination 

On Wednesday, April 4, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at 645 S. Central Ave., state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, Loretto Hospital, the West Side Heroin Task Force and Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti will host a breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and commemorating his assassination on April 4, 1968.

Get free tax prep assistance 

On Saturday, March 31, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Austin Branch Library, 5615 W. Race Ave., Ladder Up will provide free tax assistance for individuals that make less than $30,000 per year and families making $55,000 per year. Assistance is provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Ladder Up notes: All sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Many sites will stop taking new clients well before the official closing time, so please arrive early.
