Honor community legacies 

On Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the corner of Washington Blvd. and Laramie, the Austin Green Team will hold its annual memorial program where six community residents, who are now deceased, will be recognized for their commitment in serving the Austin community.  

The six community leaders who will be honored this year include: Rev. Elizabeth V. Bynum, Kenneth "Butch" Campbell, Claudell Ervin, Kamile Kalina, Mary Peery and Carol Williams-Hall. 


Attend a second chance fair
 

On Friday, May 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Another Chance Assemblies, 5138 W. Division St., Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin (1st) and Pastor David Kay will host a Second Chance Resource Fair. 

This event will feature job opportunities, workforce training, resume writing assistance and more. Confirmed vendors include CTA, FedEx, UPS, Freedman Seating and more.
