Celebrate Mandela's birthday 

On Wednesday, July 18, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., at 5051 W. Chicago Ave., state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford (8th), along with numerous other community institutions will host a commemoration of late South African President Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday. The event will coincide with the fifth anniversary of the commemoration of Mandela Road. Food and fun for whole family. 

Get a heads up on contracting opportunities 

On Thursday, July 12, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m, at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd., the Government Procurement Compliance Forum will host a vendor fair to allow vendors to learn about contracting opportunities with the city of Chicago, along with county, state and federal agencies. Talk about community court 

On Monday, July 16, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at BUILD Chicago, 5100 W. Harrison, Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin and BUILD will host a Community Court Town Hall to discuss the need for a community court in Austin. Attend a Chicago Sky diversity hiring expo

On Tuesday, July 17, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 300 E. Randolph St., the Chicago Sky will host a 6th Annual Veteran and Diversity Hiring Expo. Some entities represented will include AARP, Blue Cros and Blue Shield and Health Care Service Corporations.
