A 28-year-old man was fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood Monday morning Jan 14, at a BP station in the 5200 block of Jackson Boulevard. Gregory Bady, 28, and a female passenger, 22, were involved in an argument around 4 a.m. at a gas station at Madison and Lavergne, said Officer Robert Perez of the Chicago Police Department News and Affairs Office. According to the female witness, the pair then traveled to a BP station at Jackson and Laramie. The woman said shots were fired by an unknown person from an unknown direction, hitting Bady in the shoulder.
The woman told police that Bady, who lives in Forest Park, tried to drive himself to a hospital, reaching the on-ramp of the Eisenhower Expressway at the 600 block of Kostner. He then lost consciousness and was declared dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital around 5 a.m.
State police closed a lane of the inbound expressway for about an hour in the early morning as they investigated the crime scene.
