A Forest Park man was taken into custody by Chicago police this week and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Chicago man in December, Chicago police said in a statement.

James Wilson, 30, of the 7400 block of Washington St. was arrested in Urbana by the Fugitive Apprehension Unit of the Chicago Police Department in connection with the death of Barnett Adams, 33, in the 5600 block of Chicago Avenue on Dec. 19.

According to police, Adams, of the 600 block of North Waller Avenue, was shot around 5 p.m. on the street after an argument with a group of men. He was struck several times in the neck and shoulder by a weapon allegedly fired by Wilson, then taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was declared dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Wilson had a court date at Cook County Central Bond Court on Thursday, police said.
