Austin Weekly's new digital look As of Dec. 12, the Austin Weekly News has a new and vastly improved website and a new mobile version. And we want to do some bragging about it. We are very excited about what we have built and how it will nurture connections and community on the West Side.

You know the Weekly for its fair, positive and thorough news coverage of Austin and Garfield Park under the guidance of Terry Dean, our longtime editor. You know us for our strong columnists, including Arlene Jones and China Hill. You know Loretta Ragsdell and her StreetBeat. You know us for our pages of pictures from across the neighborhoods as Dawn Ferencak goes Out & About.

At AustinWeeklyNews.com you'll find all that and much more.

  • Add your comments to any story on our website. Now the comment stream is live and livelier.
  • Our Community section is the place to announce your West Side news. Something at church, a graduation or promotion, a meeting or event. Email your news (and pictures) to Rosie Powers, our digital editor, at Community@AustinWeeklyNews.com.
  • There are new advertising and promotional opportunities on both the website and our mobile version. Find out more about advertising online and in print by calling Dawn Ferencak at 708-613-3329 or email her at Dawn@AustinWeeklyNews.com.
  • Mobile and tablets are the way a lot of Westsiders get their news and information. The new website was built with mobile in mind. Just go to AustinWeeklyNews.com on your device and you'll find a sleek and readable take on all the news. No apps to download.

The Weekly has been the West Side's neighborhood paper for 28 years. And now our readers in Garfield Park and Austin have the digital version they deserve, too.

Thanks for your strong support.

Congratulations to our sister paper on a sleek new look and some great coverage of LaShawn Ford and Rev. Flowers' passing.
