"I am giving up all negativity. I won't partake in any conversation that talks about lack and limitation. I am looking for God to do some great things in my personal life, in my professional life, in my marriage and in the lives of my children. I'm embracing positiveness, niceness and love. It's important to give something up for Lent, because God made a sacrifice for us by giving up his only begotten son, Jesus Christ; so it's important to offer a sacrifice unto God."

Princess Nobel Gbadebo

"I am giving up cheese for Lent, because I eat cheese almost everyday. I went to the doctor and he said I had a little cholesterol and asked what I was doing. I told him about the cheese and he said leave the cheese alone for a while. I'm going to do it, because I don't want to go on medication. It's important, because I'm from the South and that's what they do. It's a good thing."

Yolanda Rush

"Yes, I am giving up something for Lent. I am not sure what it is just yet, but it's important, because it is a sacrificial time. It teaches you endurance and how to abstain from something to grow out of that."

Zita Brady Garmon

"No, I am not giving anything up for Lent, because I'm selfish and I like everything that I have. I feel like I'm on the right track spiritually."

 Rosalind Thomas

"Yes, I am giving up sweets because that is one of my down falls, and I said, let me give up something that I know I love the most, and then in the meantime it will help me to have control, and on the second hand, it might help me to come down a couple of notches. I am not sure why it's important, but I know it has something to do with the sacrifice of Christ and the 40 days and 40 nights, but honestly, I not quiet sure. I'm still learning."

Vera Sharp

"Yes, I am giving up breads and sweets because I am trying to get healthier.  I am a kidney transplant recipient, so I got to make sure I eat right.  It's important to give something up for Lent because you want to eliminate all bad things to help you get started on a heathier life."
