Parents know that nothing is more important for their kids' future than a strong education. But finding the right school can be a challenge, especially these days with all the choices among public and private schools, charters and magnets. The good news is that the West Side now has dozens of schools for a family to consider. The bad news is that it is hard to sort through all the options.
The Austin Weekly News can help parents gather the information they need as they plan for next fall. This Saturday March 17, 27 local schools will be represented at our first annual Education Fair. It is being held, and co-sponsored by, Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory High School, 5088 W. Jackson Blvd. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And, of course, it is free and street parking is available.
This is your chance to meet school staff, parents and students representing a wide range of elementary and high schools on the West Side. The first 200 people through the door will receive an Austin Weekly tote bag and everyone can enter a drawing for an iPad.
Vanguard West Suburban Hospital is our second sponsor and they will have a diabetes information table at the fair.
Find the list of all our schools on page 32. Find out more about the event by calling 708/613-3329. We look forward to seeing you Saturday for this fun and informative event.
Great things are happening on the West Side.
