The world is filled with inspirational people. Sometimes we do not need to look any further then within our own circle of family and friends. For Jen Haagenson, owner of 1148 Cosmetics, that inspiration came from her mother, Bonnie, her Grandma Jean and her Aunt Patty. “I always marveled at these three women, their sense of style and grace. They defined for me the possibilities of what I could achieve.” It was the belief in those possibilities that lead Jen to pursue her passion for makeup.

With a background in interior design and a talent for pulling together colors, Jen is a natural for the world of makeup artistry. Her personable, down-to-earth demeanor sets her clients at ease. From bridal parties to the customers in her shop everyone feels comfortable in her hands. “I enjoy enhancing a person's appearance,” she says, “to see how happy they are when they feel and look more beautiful.”

Why the name 1148? Because that is the address of Jen's childhood home in Michigan. “That's where my fondest of memories are forever kept,” she says, “1148 is where each day and every day I watched my mother apply her Signature Red Lipstick. It's the place that when I allow myself a moment in my day to reflect upon, I feel a sense of peace, comfort and inspiration.”
