A West Side man charged with the 2004 rape of a 12-year-old girl was ordered held Wednesday on $400,000 bond.

Eddie J. Love, 19, of 2117 W. Jackson, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and criminal sexual assault using force or threats.

The rape is alleged to have occurred June 4, 2004 in a house near South Damen Avenue and West Jackson Boulevard.

According to prosecutors, the girl, now 13 said she had been playing with her brother outdoors when Love and several others took her against her will to a nearby home where they raped her. Her brother followed the attackers and heard the assault occurring, prosecutors said.

The girl’s mother took her to the University of Illinois Medical Center where a test revealed the presence of semen that produced a DNA match to Jones, prosecutors said. Jones was already on probation for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Jones’s next court date is scheduled for May 2.
