The Chicago Police last week cracked a 1 1/2 year old West Side cold case last week by charging two individuals with the 2004 murder.
George Gomez, 19, and Misael Juarez, 19, were charged with first-degree murder last Thursday in the Sept. 19, 2004 shooting of Ivan Sanchez of the 4800 block of West Palmer. Sanchez was shot multiple time as he sat in his parked car with his girlfriend. Area Five detectives and the Cold Case Unit gathered additional interviews with witnesses and conducted additional lineups following the 2004 shooting. Gomez, of the 4800 block of West George, was identified as the shooter and Juarez, of the 1500 block West Winona as the driver of the car. Both, according to police, drove to the 4800 block of West Palmer were Sanchez was shot. The two believed Sanchez was a gang member.
