“Justice delayed is justice denied,” was the cry during the civil rights movement, and that was the cry for those awaiting the release of the Burge Report on June 16. That included a strong contingent of protestors in front of 26th & California courthouse where Judge Paul Biebel continued the proceedings to June 30 in order to give the Illinois Supreme Court a chance to rule on a motion filed by an unknown prosecutor, known only as “John Doe” in court documents, who is attempting to keep his/her name from being published in the final Special Prosecutor’s report.

One of the attorneys pressing for the release of the report, Stan Willis, later reported that on June 20 the Illinois Supreme Court denied the “John Doe” request. The Supreme Court’s ruling now clears the way for Judge Biebel to order the Special Prosecutor’s Report to be made public at the June 30 hearing.
