Kimberly Collins, one of the trip’s eight adult chaperones, came to KIPP last May through an internship offered through DePaul University. She was hired as an administrative assistant last fall. She’s also a graduate of Spelman, so this trip is sort of a homecoming for her. Collins, a native of Houston Texas, didn’t think she’d up in education. Law or psychology were fer first choices. But she’s pleased to be a mentor to the students.
“It feels good giving back to the African-American who who don’t know what a Historically Black College is.”
