Last Thursday, the young girl’s family hosted a rally at Central and Lake streets. The South Austin Coalition, 15th District Police, Austin clergy and many other area residents joined the parents to pass out leaflets (above) at the Central and Lake El stop.
On Sunday Sept. 30, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris became alarmed when their 15-year-old daughter did not return after leaving home at around 9 p.m. that night.
15th District police later surveyed the community and local businesses to find her.
On the day of the rally last Thursday, police and SACCC members talked with young people in the area who said they saw the missing teen in the neighborhood around the time of the rally, which took place at 4 that afternoon. The teen was found safe shortly thereafter and is back home with her family.
