Life long West Side and west suburban resident Darryl Cloyd lost his long battle with heart disease on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was 43 years old and the son of Alice “Gwen” Cloyd and the late Darnell “Pete” Cloyd. A young man with a million-dollar smile and a charmer who loved people, Darryl brought joy to family and friends with his pleasant and warm personality.
Educated in the Maywood public schools and Proviso East High School, he accepted Christ at an early age and believed no one should pass judgment on anyone. His brother Kerry told me, “I’ve lost my best friend.”
His mother Gwen submitted a beautiful poem that was read at his service. It began: “My Son lay sleeping. While we may weep and mourn. But there is one great comfort. He’s in his Heavenly home. I say good-bye to you, my son. For truly I will see you again one day. Because if we’re to see our Heavenly Father, your path, your journey is the only way.”
Services were held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Wallace Broadview Funeral Chapel.
