An 18-year-old Oak Park man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Thursday in the shooting death Aug. 30 of a Chicago teenager in the Galewood neighborhood.

Marcel Brown, of the 900 block of N. Humphrey, was arrested by Chicago Area Five crimes investigators after they searched his garage Thursday morning and found a car matching the description of one reported leaving the scene of the shooting.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 26th and California this afternoon.

Brown reportedly was the driver of the car used in the shooting. A Chicago teen, who was reportedly the shooter, is also in police custody.

Police say neighbors on the 6200 block of W. Bloomingdale reported hearing gun shots around 11 p.m. Aug. 30. The body of Paris Jackson, 19, of 6008 W. North Ave., was found by park district staff the flowing morning behind the Amundsen Park field house. He had gunshot wounds to his lower back and chest.

Neighbors reported seeing a gold Chevy Malibu with custom wheel rims leave the area after the shots. According to Oak Park Commander Clemet Harbour, a car matching that description was found in Brown’s garage.

Harbour said Oak Park police have had previous contact with both Brown and Jackson.
