In memoriam
Marcus Andrew Thomas-Winfrey, a resident of Oak Park, died March 8 in his home from a heart ailment. He was 18 years old.
Marcus is the brother of Austin Weekly News freelance photographer Daisy Winfrey, and would sometimes accompany her on some of her assignments.
He loved to collect things-rocks, trading cards, coins, according to his family. Marcus also liked to play cards, scrabble and other word-search games. And he also enjoyed dancing the Cha Cha slide. His family says he always had a pleasant smile and positive attitude about everything.
Marcus was born on Oct. 22, 1990 to parents Maurice Thomas and Arbutus (Beauty) Winfrey. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School in Oak Park. Marcus also received an honorary diploma from Oak Park and River Forest High.
He leaves behind two brothers, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends.
