Providence St. Mel student David Houston took first place in the school’s recent Science Fair.
In June 2007, Austin Weekly News featured David, then age 12, when he won fourth place in the fair. Now, two years later, he’s won the top prize, not only making the faculty at Providence St. Mel proud but also his mother, Danielle Miller, and especially his grandparents, Howard and Darlene Sandifer of the Chicago West Music Community Center. David is also an accomplished musician, playing both piano and drums.
Of his love of science, he said: “I like to make things and see exactly how they work. I am especially interested in electronics and electrical procedures.”
On Wednesday, May 27, the Providence St. Mel student will be performing at the House of Blues.
David says he can’t wait and is very excited about this event.
