NBA Player Charles “Chuck” Cooper was among the first blacks to play in an NBA game. Cooper was the first black to be drafted in the NBA, signing with the Boston Celtics. Cooper played his first game on Oct. 22, 1950. He was with four teams during his sixth-year career. He died on Feb. 5, 1984 at age 57.
