A Chicago Police officer was struck in the leg last Wednesday afternoon by a bullet that reportedly bounced off a dog. According to a 98-word statement released by Police News Affairs, officers from the narcotics unit were executing a search warrant in the 6000 block of South May at about 1:15 p.m. that afternoon.
One of the officers shot at two charging dogs that were inside the premises. A shot “reflected off of one of the dogs, accidentally striking another officer in the leg,” according to the statement.
The injured officer was taken to a hospital in Oak Lawn and was listed in good condition. Five people were taken into custody after the raid. Charges are pending.
