A former Austin District police commander is in the running to become the city’s police superintendent.
Al Wysinger, 48, served as 15th District commander from 2005 to 2008, before moving on to deputy chief of organized crime in the department. The Chicago Sun-Times this week reported that Wysinger was among the top three candidates for Chicago Police superintendent. Incoming Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to name a new superintendent in the coming weeks. An Austin native, Wysinger is 25-year veteran on the Chicago police force.
