A man was hit and killed by a Green Line CTA train traveling in the Austin community on Wednesday, according to Chicago news outlets.

The fatal incident occurred at about 8:30 Wednesday morning just east of the Cicero Avenue Green Line station, located on Lake Street. Police and fire vehicles blanketed the area as commuters streamed from the upper platform station to the street below. According to the Chicago Tribune, the man was hit by a train traveling westbound. The person, according to reports on the paper’s website, was dead on the tracks just east of Cicero; also that police suspect the victim jumped in front of the train. Travel was temporarily delayed as power was shut off in both directions between Laramie and Pulaski. Shuttle buses were provided between Central and Pulaski.

It was almost a year ago that another man jumped to his death in front of a Green Line train in Austin, this incident occurring on Aug. 16, 2010 at the Central and Lake station. In 2006, a similar incident occurred at Central and Lake after a man was killed jumping in front of an oncoming train.
