Austin’s Frederick Douglass Academy dedicated a campus mural to community heroes on Dec. 3, including a relative of the schoolfs namesake.

Kenneth Morris, the great, great, great, grandson of abolitionist Frederick Douglass was on hand at the school, 543 N. Waller, along with other honorees. The mural is dedicated to local ‘heroes” that have worked to inspire their community. The other honorees were Sheree Blakemore, Mildred Brackett, Douglass Principal Debra Crump, state Rep. Camille Lilly (78th), mural artist Jerrold Anderson, and U.S. Rep. Danny Davis.
