A $3,000 reward has been offered for information regarding the June 27 shooting death of 7-year-old Heaven Sutton, who was killed by a stray bullet Wednesday night near her family home.
The child was sitting with her mom at the family’s candy stand outside their home at the time of the shooting. The shooting appears to be gang-related, with Sutton the latest innocent bystander caught up in the violence. She was struck in the back as she ran into her home after shots rang out and died moments later. Another bystander, a 19-year-old male, was hit in the ankle and taken to the hospital.
A press conference to announce the reward is scheduled to take place at Friday at noon (June 29) at 1700 N. Luna. Community and clergy leaders will also be passing out fliers about the reward. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact 25th District Police (Grand & Central) at 312-746-8605.
