-Arsenio Hall, comedian and talk show host. In 1989, The Arsenio Hall Show, debuted on this day. Hall became the first African American to host a nightly talk show. The program broke new ground in featuring black entertainers, including rap artists, which were otherwise shunned by other nighttime talkers at the time.
