Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. kicked off his Chicago civil rights campaign against housing segregation on this day in 1966.
King would also move into a West Side apartment later that summer, which was located in North Lawndale at 1550 S. Hamlin. The building (pictured) is no longer there.
