Officials are still investigating a fire that broke out in an Austin home around 12:40 a.m. Thursday, killing an 18-year-old woman and seriously injuring a man, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Firefighters said the fire at the home, located at North Waller Avenue and West Iowa Street, likely started in the attic and had spread to the second floor by the time crews began battling the fire.

Tamisha Davis, who was residing in the home, was killed in what officials are calling a “heavy fire”. Firefighters believe she and the man were on the second floor of the home when the fire started.

The injured man was taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park and remains in “serious but stable” condition, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
