The Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) partned with Austin Weekly News, the Austin Chamber of Commerce and MXOtech to host a Business Development Seminar on October 2, 2013 at Loretto Hospital.
The morning included presentations from several community representatives. Dawn Ferencak, Sales Representative at Austin Weekly News, spoke about how to create an effective advertisement. Bral Spight discussed the benefits of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Initiative and CEO of Austin Chamber of Commerce Amara Enyia explained the resources avaiable through the city for business owners. Joanna Sobran, President of MXOtech and graduate of the Goldman Sachs program, gave the audience advice on how to choose the right technology company. Finally, the Director of Community Relations & Corporate Initiatives for the WBDC, Elizabeth Gardner, shared her experience training entrepreneurs on business development techniques and talked about how the WBDC hosts workshops on a variety of topics.
One participant described the event as “the most informative meeting I have attended all year.”
