The film American Promise will be playing at ICE Lawndale Theaters, 3330 W Roosevelt Rd, Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. as a part of a celebration of black cinema.
The documentary follows the story of two middle-class African American families and their sons over the course of 13 years. Both boys, friends in fact, begin kindergarten together at the prestigious Dolton School in New York City. Throughout the film the two are confronted with cultural, social and academic obstacles.
