On this day in Black History Black Panther leaders Mark Clark, 22, and Fred Hampton, 21, were killed in a late night raid by Chicago Police at their South Side residence on Dec. 4, 1969. Hampton, who led the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party, was born in Summit and graduated from Proviso East High School in 1966.
