The Austin Chamber of Commerce held it’s annual Holiday Party at Because I Care, Inc., 5811 W. Chicago Avenue on Thursday, December 19th. 

Because I Care, Inc. is a nonprofit resource center located in Austin on the Westside of Chicago.  Because I Care serves at-risk youth in need of educational and social service assistance by providing mentoring and tutoring services, computer literacy training, after school and summer school care, and college and job readiness programs.  Since their inception, Because I Care has helped at-risk youth reach their full academic potential resulting in a 98% improvement in social behavior, 95% increase in literacy and mathematical abilities, and a 54% increase in technology readiness.  

The celebration included African drumming and dance, as well as a look at the Chamber‘s success over the last year with new Executive Director, Amara Enyia.
