President and founder of Grace Media Group, Derek Grace, premiered a short clip of his documentary about “College Week” at an elementary school in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood about 9 months ago on the well-known video hosting site, Vimeo.
The documentary highlights the work of three 8th grade teachers at Spencer Technology Academy and their efforts to prepare students for a week of college-themed activities.

Statement by Derek Grace
Every year Spencer Technology Academy hosts an annual event called “College Week”. A powerful principal, committed teachers, and active parents work together to instill the importance of higher education into the minds of the entire student body.
All grade levels from pre-school through eight spend weeks preparing their home rooms as representations of college campuses. A competition is waged at the end of the school year in which home rooms are critiqued and judged by adults from various professions. “College Week” culminates with an energetic parade that is attended by the entire student body and surrounding community.
