Hazel Scott

Jazz singer and actress Hazel Scott was born on June 11, 1920. In 1950, Scott became the first black woman to have her own TV show, The Hazel Scott Show, which ran during that summer but was not picked up. Scott continued acting until her death in 1981 at age 61. She was married to U.S. congressman and civil rights activist Adam Clayton Powel Jr. from 1945 until their divorce in 1960.
