Chicago Shakespeare Theater is presenting Shakespeare in the Parks this summer. There will be a free performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Sunday, August 10, at Columbus Park.
Also, the Chicago West Community Music Center is doing a series of concerts at the Refectory throughout the summer, upcoming shows are:
- Friday, July 11th, ” The Lady & The Sparrow”, a musical tribute to parallels in the lives and artistry of America’s legendary Billie Holiday and France’s revered chanteuse Edith Piaf. This is an original work written and directed by Chicago playwright Herbert Oscar Allen; Musical Director is Howard Sandifer (Director of Chgo West Commun Music Ctr) 7-9 p.m. free admission. - Friday, Aug 22nd, “A Day of Words, A Night of Music” Tribute to legendary songwriter Sammy Cahn. An original work written and performed by Howard Sandifer. Directed by Herbert Oscar Allen. Indian Boundary Park Cultural Center, 2500 W. Lunt Ave. 7-9 p.m. free admission
- Friday, Sept. 26th, Ne Me Quitte Pas (Don’t Leave Me) An original work written and directed by Chgo playwright Herbert Oscar Allen. Musical Director Howard Sandifer. Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. 7-9 p.m. free admission.
