It was actually on July 21 1990 when Black Enterprise publisher Earl Graves and NBA star-turned-entrepreneur Magic Johnson purchased a stake in Pepsi-Cola Co.’s D.C.-based bottling firm. The move created the largest minority-owned Pepsi franchise in the United States at that time.
