Spencer Technology Academy hosted Action for Healthy Kids’ community event to combat childhood obesity on Sept. 20. The national nonprofit is based in Chicago. Saturday’s event at Spencer, 214 N. Lavergne, included youth and adults doing exercises to keep those pesky extra pounds off. Youth and adults also painted a lunchroom mural at the Austin-area school. Other activities included basketball playing, kickball, hop scotch and healthy food tastings.
