Austin’s state legislators will take part in a public forum concerning education in the Illinois Oct. 8, in neighboring Oak Park. State senators Don Harmon (39th) and Kimberly Lightford (4th) will be joined by state representatives Camille Lilly (78th) and LaShawn Ford (8th). Wednesday’s forum starts at 7 p.m. at Oak Park’s Percy Julian Middle School
416 S. Ridgeland Ave. The forum is hosted by the elementary school district’s legislative advocacy committee CLAIM (Committee for Legislative Action, Intervention and Monitoring). This is the second annual forum and an opportunity for residents to ask their lawmakers questions about the state of education in Illinois. Childcare will also be available for attendees with children aged 4 or older. Attendees interested in childcare should email claimevent@op97.org to reserve a space. A brief reception with refreshments takes place after the forum.
