Theodore Sedgwick Wright (1797-1847) became the first black American to graduate from a Theological Seminary (Princeton) in November 1829. He’s also the first black to complete theological studies at that institution. Born to free parents in 1797, Wright is also a founding member of the American Anti-Slavery Society of 1833.
