CHICAGO – November 17, 2014 – Circle Urban Ministries, a faith-based organization dedicated to empowering urban youth located in Chicago’s West side neighborhood of Austin, is hosting a fundraising event on Sunday, Nov. 23 called “Bear Down for Chicago Urban Youth.” Guests are encouraged to come out to Joe’s Bar at 940 West Weed Street and watch the Bears take on Lovie Smith’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a good cause.
The event, being planned and organized by Circle Urban’s Young Professionals Board (YPB), includes a $30 wristband deal for drinks from Noon-3 p.m. and raffle tickets (one for $5 or three for $10). A portion of the proceeds from the wristband sales and full proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go to help fund Circle Urban’s numerous beneficial youth programs, such as mentoring, college readiness, arts enrichment and spiritual development. Raffle prizes include two White Sox tickets to a game in the 2015-16 season, Bears paraphernalia, a wine package and a car detail by Chicagoland Detail.
Circle Urban, which is led by Executive Director Dr. George Wilson, was founded in 1974 by a group of concerned residents and directs its efforts in the Austin neighborhood – one of Chicago’s largest and roughest areas. A wristband is not required to attend the event, and personal donations can be made on-site, as well. To learn more about the event, visit Circle Urban on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CircleUrban.
