OAK PARK – State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, has been named to both the West Suburban Medical Center Board of Trustees in Oak Park and the Loretto Hospital Board of Directors in Chicago. Celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2014, West Suburban Medical Center is a 233-bed teaching hospital located in Oak Park. Loretto Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital in the Austin community in Chicago with 176 beds. Both hospitals are major employers in the area and serve patients from the West Side of Chicago and the near West suburbs. 

Marianne Schiavone, Chair of the Board of Trustees at West Suburban, said, “I welcome Rep. La Shawn Ford to the West Suburban Medical Center Board of Trustees. I thank him for sharing his talents with us, and we look forward to working with him.”

“I think that participating on both hospital boards is vital during this time of rapid changes in health care,” said Ford. “One of my goals is to help bring together different organizations to help meet the needs on the West Side of Chicago, Oak Park, and the surrounding communities. We need to create and sustain good jobs in health care and related fields, and I look forward to working with both organizations to work together to improve the health and well-being for the service areas of the communities.”
