COURTESY OF GET COVERED ILLINOIS

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the words he spoke at the 1966 National Convention of the Medical Committee for Human Rights, Get Covered Illinois (GCI) and its community partners are hosting an “Open Mic Slam” and a variety of other enrollment events throughout the long weekend. The goal of these events is to help uninsured members of the community enroll in health coverage before the February 15thopen enrollment deadline.

The “Open Mic Slam” is a free event open to artists and performers of all kind. Senator Willie Delgado will be in the audience as performers like Bomba con Buya, Louder than a Bomb, and other artists take the stage. At this and all other enrollment events, in-person assistors will be available to answer questions and provide uninsured residents with the information they need to enroll in health coverage.
