WHA Weatherization Program opened their Intake line in September of 2013 and has been helping homeowners in the Austin and Garfield Park Community winterize their homes. WHA has been expanded in the New Year to also help Lawndale community homeowners to receive weatherization services.

The Weatherization team consists of a state licensed Contractor as Field Supervisor and 4 BPI Certified

auditors that provide the free home energy audits to qualified residents. In addition, the program has developed relationships with community residents through Outreach events such as hosting the Citizens Utility Board “Utility Bill Clinic” and several Weatherization Open Houses to screen and assist people in applications.

The program goal is to also enhance the community economic opportunities through the hiring of local contractors to complete the weatherization improvements in community homes.

Residents have been assisted to find home services or repairs not included in the Weatherization program by receiving resources and referrals to other agencies in the community.

For more information on the weatherization program, outreach events or to receive an application please call the Weatherization Intake line 773-413-3370.

This program is funded through a grant received through the Urban Weatherization Initiative, a program administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO)
