Chicago police are asking residents in Austin’s 15th District to be on heightened alert due to an increase in robberies that ocurred during January.
Police say two to three unidentified African American male offenders, ages 18-30, approximately 5’7 to 5’9 inches and between 150-170 pounds each, approach victims either on foot or exit a vehicle before robbing them of their property. The suspects then flee in a waiting vehicle.
The suspects have been witnessed to flee by way of a variety of vehicles that include a maroon minivan, a blue Ford Windstar van; a light green four-door Mitubishi and a green four-door Oldsmobile.
Police recommend that citizens a) Report suspicious activity immediately, b) Be aware of suspicious individuals in the neighborhood, c) If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information and d) Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene.
