Police officer and attorney Chris Taliaferro, a candidate for 29th Ward alderman running against incumbent Deborah Graham, has landed the endorsements of Rep. Danny K. Davis (who also endorsed Willie Wilson for mayor), pastors Ira Acree and Marshall Hatch and former 29th Ward candidate Maurice Robinson. With this recent wave of endorsements, Taliaferro has emerged as the most significant threat to Ald. Graham’s reelection prospects.

In the 37th Ward, candidate Tara Stamps, running against longtime incumbent Emma Mitts, has emerged as the alderman’s most formidable challenger. Stamps, a former teacher, has the backing of the Chicago Teachers Union—which has poured more than $30,000 into her campaign war chest, according to public records—and a spate of left-leaning political action committees and parties, such as the Chicago Green Party, the Chicago Federation of Labor, Grassroots Illinois Action and the Progressive Action Project.
