Members of the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders were honored in February on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC in an award ceremony that marked the graduation and completion of their national leadership training. Later, the entire group celebrated in West Garfield Park.

Over 2600 community leaders from across the nation, and 12 countries, took part in CADCA’s 25th Annual National Leadership Forum in National Harbor, Md from February 2-5, 2015 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. CADCA’s National Leadership Forum is the nation’s largest and premier training event for substance abuse prevention and treatment professionals and researchers. Training sessions addressed some of the most pressing issues facing communities today – from how to prevent prescription drug abuse and marijuana use among youth to how to reduce tobacco use and underage drinking.

The West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders, a consortium of residents, agencies, churches, elected officials, law enforcement, and businesses working together to improve the quality of life on the West Side community, is actively engaged in efforts to prevent substance abuse by young people and ending youth violence.  
 
The host Community Empowerment and Unification meetings scheduled for the 2nd Monday of each month, at 6:00 pm. SHARP at 4540 West Washington, Blvd. in Chicago.
