Chicago police say that residents in Austin’s 15th District should be vigilant in the wake of robberies that have occurred in March. Police say that victims are approached by an unknown offender who demands their property at gunpoint, at times demanding that they strip and lie on the ground before fleeing the scene.
Incidents have occurred on the 800 block of North Lawler at 4 p.m. on March 3 and on the 4800 block of West Ohio Street at March 6, at 7:25 p.m.
The suspects are believed to be black males, between the ages of 18 and 25, 5’8” to 5’10”, and 170 to 190 pounds.
Police are asking residents to immediately report suspicious activity and to be aware of suspicious individuals in their neighborhoods. If residents are approached by a witness to one of these crimes, they should request contact information, dial 9-1-1 and remain on the scene.
