On March 25, 1931, nine young black males, who would be later known as the Scottsboro Boys, were arrested and wrongly charged with the rape of two white women while on a freight train near the town of Paint Rock, Alabama. The names of the men, whose ages ranged from 13 to 21, weren’t cleared until many years later and after they had collectively served 100 years in prison.
