Antoine Coney, 21, of the 5200 block of West Quincy Street, was fatally shot while standing on his porch Thursday, March 26. The shooting happened at around 5:30 p.m., when an armed man got out of a grey car, began firing, and fled the scene, according to police. Coney was pronounced dead at the scene. As of press time, no suspect was in custody.
The next day, Friday, March 27, at around 7:15 p.m., an unidentified man was critically wounded after he was shot in his “hip or groin” while he was sitting in his vehicle, according to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times. The shooting happened on the 5300 block of West Jackson, police said. The man, a documented gang member, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital and, as of press time, was in critical condition.
