Spike Lee to hold casting calls for controversial film 'Chiraq', Sat., May 9,

It hasn’t been without its controversy (see this Chicago Tribune article for a summary), but director Spike Lee’s upcoming film about Chicago’s challenges with gun violence seems to be a go — controversial or not. The director has been in Chicago scouting locations and now he’s looking for extras. It may be a Chicago-based film, but that doesn’t mean the film’s talent can’t come from the suburbs, too. You must have an Illinois Driver’s License or Illinois State ID to submit.

POTENTIAL FILM DATES: May 19th through July 10th (you must have an extremely flexible schedule or open availability during filming)
LOCATION: Englewood and surrounding neighborhoods
RATE: $150/10

STAND-IN #1: African American, Male, 30s to 40s, average build, 5’8′, short black hair, and dark skin complexion

STAND-IN #2: African American, Female, 20s to 30’s, petite build, 5’3″, black hair on the longer side, and medium skin complexion

STAND-IN #3: African American, Male, 30s to 40s, athletic build, 6′, short black hair, and light skin complexion

STAND-IN #4: African American, Female, 20s to 30s, Size 6, 5’9′, short black hair, and medium skin complexion

STAND-IN #5: African American, Male, 40s to 50s, 6′ 2″, average build, bald, and medium skin complexion

STAND-IN #6: Caucasian, Male, 30s to 40s, 6’2″, average build, black hair on the long short side, and light skin complexion

1) Put STAND-IN with the appropriate number of the STAND-IN you match in the subject line, i.e. Stand-In #1 or Stand-in #3.

3) Attach recent jpeg photos of yourself – close up and full body shot – these do not need to be professional pictures – candid photos of you up against a neutral wall, with a solid color shirt, and decent lighting will suffice.

Note: If you typically wear your hair in different styles, please make the photos of the style you wear most often – you can put in the description other styles and wigs that you own.

4) Give us a brief description of your experience on set.

5) Give us an idea of your schedule for the duration of filming.

6) Confirm that you are able to travel to Englewood via public transportation or that you have your own vehicle.

EXTRA PART #2: African American, Male, 3-5 yoa

4) Give us an idea of your schedule for the duration of filming – any family vacations planned, etc.

5) Confirm that you are able to travel to Englewood via public transportation or that you have your own vehicle.

6) Confirm that you have a current, valid, Illinois work permit with either 4 Star Casting or a talent agent, i.e. Lily’s, Paonessa, etc. You MUST give us the name of the employer listed on the work permit.

Note: If you do not have a work permit, you must tell us that it is pending, and then go to our website at http://www.4starcasting.com/minors-registration—illinois.…, and start the process. You then must notify us when you have the work permit in hand. If we don’t hear back on your progress within a week of submission, we will assume that you are out of the running.

Photographers Casting Call

PROJECT: Spike Lee Film
Open Call Labor

Please do not submit for photographer if you don’t have your own camera equipment. Please do not submit for open call assistant unless you have previously worked on several projects (i.e. we know who you are).

DATE: Friday, May 8th (unpaid training meeting), Saturday, May 9th (see positions)
LOCATION: Englewood

POSITIONS:
PHOTOGRAPHER RATE: $200/12 (you must be able to provide your own camera equipment)
OPEN CALL ASSISTANTS: $130/12

TIME: APPROXIMATELY 8:30AM TO 7:30PM
PARKING AND MEAL INCLUDED

6) If you are submitting for open call assistant, please provide us with a brief list of some of the projects you have previously worked on with us, and if you have any previous experience working on an open call or with large crowds.
